About the School

Morisset Public School is situated on the south‑west side of Lake Macquarie on Awabakal land. It is a proud member of the Western Shores Learning Alliance (WSLA), in partnership with four other primary schools and Morisset High School. The school has 159 enrolments, 28% of which identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 15% originate from language backgrounds other than English. In 2026 it will have a multi‑categorical support class. Enhancing the wellbeing and engagement of our students, with a focus on high‑quality explicit teaching, is a priority to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes.

About the Role

School Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs, including disability, within classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to help achieve educational outcomes. This role includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required and will specifically support students in the newly formed 2026 Multi‑categorical (MC) class.

Essential Requirements
  • Working with Children Check clearance
  • Completion of mandatory Department of Education training and willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the role
  • Administration of medications – training provided based on student needs
  • Health support training – provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions)
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities
  • Awareness of the needs of such students
  • Effective communication skills
