Job summary

NSW Government is seeking a General Assistant to support Hillside Public School and Middle Dural Public School in Sydney's Northwest. The role is 0.6FTE, ongoing, and involves grounds maintenance, room setup, and safe handling of equipment across two campuses.

You will report maintenance and safety issues, assist with deliveries and storage, and contribute to a collaborative school environment with a focus on WHS standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in prioritising tasks, showing initiative, and working with minimal supervision.
• Proven skills in the maintenance and care of grounds, buildings, furniture, and equipment.
• Experience in the safe operation and storage of tools and machinery, with a strong commitment to WHS standards.
• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with teaching and non-teaching staff.
• Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Organising and setting up rooms, furniture, and equipment for school activities and dismantling/storing items when not in use.
• Reporting maintenance and safety issues and undertaking minor maintenance tasks where appropriate.
• Caring for school grounds including mowing lawns and playing fields, marking fields, preparing planting sites, pruning, trimming, and weed control.
• Operating tools and machinery such as mowers safely and storing equipment in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
• Assisting with receiving, storing, and distributing supplies and monitoring equipment condition.
