Job summary

The Department of Education Victoria – Cranbourne VIC is seeking a skilled Mental Health Practitioner to support students across campuses, delivering preventive and early intervention mental health services within government schools.

You will work with teachers, families and external agencies to coordinate supports for students with complex needs, and ensure privacy compliance and high professional standards in a dynamic, multi-campus environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified as a psychologist, social worker, mental health nurse, occupational therapist or counsellor.
• Demonstrated direct counselling experience.
• Current Working With Children Check.
• Evidence of registration with the appropriate regulatory body (AHPRA, AASW, etc).
• Desirable: educational/clinical specialisation in mental health in schools.

Responsibilities

• Providing advice and professional learning to teachers and wellbeing staff to build student wellbeing outcomes.
• Delivering mental health prevention, promotion and early intervention services for students.
• Planning and implementing intervention strategies for students with complex needs in collaboration with families and agencies.
• Working with school leadership to enhance whole-school mental health initiatives.
• Liaising with school nurses, Student Support Services and external providers for student support.
• Maintaining professional development and compliance with privacy and consent policies.
• Abiding by child safety standards and pre-employment checks.
