Job summary

Boeing Defence Australia is seeking a Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to help grow the capabilities of deployed SATCOM terminals for the Australian Defence Force.

You will work in an integrated product team, develop engineering artefacts, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and ensure solutions meet operational requirements across Brisbane CBD and Wacol with field events at Defence facilities in SEQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, IT related fields or equivalent.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management.
• Experience developing and executing Systems Engineering artefacts (e.g., MSMP, V&V).
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Willing to travel and work around Brisbane.

Responsibilities

• Deliver next generation satellite terminals to the ADF as part of an integrated product team.
• Analyze customer requirements and develop innovative solutions for system artefacts.
• Coordinate with software, hardware, safety, security and support disciplines for proper integration.
• Ensure engineering scope meets quality, schedule and budget constraints.
• Develop engineering documentation and manage configuration of system artefacts.
• Verify and validate designs to meet requirements.

The OpportunityWe are seeking a talented Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Systems Engineer to join Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) in growing the capabilities of the world leading deployed communications systems. You will focus on developing systems engineering artefacts and other engineering work associated with the acquisition of land based multi-band transportable satellite terminal systems and associated support system elements.Battlespace Communications System (BCS) is a next generation networking product that is the centrepiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off the shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customised for various mission needs.ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of an integrated product team of engineers and technical staff to deliver the next generation of satellite terminals to the ADF.Champion analysing and understanding customer requirements alongside the development of innovative solutions that ensure system engineering artefacts are developed through the project lifecycle.Coordinating with other design and specialty disciplines (e.g. software, hardware, safety, security and support system engineering) to ensure that your team's products are properly integrated into the solution and delivered in a way that delights the customer.Working with the broader project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project.Development of engineering documentation and effective configuration management of system artefacts.Verifying and validating designs and products to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements.Experience/QualificationsEssential:Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline, Information Technology related fields or equivalent industry experience.Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management.Experience developing and executing against Systems Engineering artefacts, including Systems Engineering Management Plan and Verification and Validation Plan.Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to engage with a unique team.Willing to travel and work in and around Brisbane.
