Job summary

City of Tea Tree Gully is seeking a Safety Partner to lead a small team responsible for work health and safety, injury management and wellbeing initiatives. You will coach senior leaders to embed safe practices and champion a proactive safety mindset.

You will partner with corporate leaders, ensure compliance with WHS legislation and PSSI standards, and drive continuous improvement using data and insights. Salary and superannuation are negotiated based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (or demonstrated equivalent senior experience).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a small WHS/injury management team.
  • Senior advisory capacity with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation, incident investigations, and PSSI Performance Standards.
  • Solid understanding of procurement and contractor management as they relate to safety.
  • A valid South Australian Class C Driver's Licence (and flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work).

Safety Partner - Position Description

Reporting to the Manager People, Culture and Wellbeing, you will lead a small, dedicated team of specialists to coordinate work health, safety, injury management, and wellbeing activities. This is a highly collaborative role where you will partner directly with corporate leaders, coaching and empowering them to embed safe work practices and champion a proactive safety mindset.

Role Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to a small specialist team (including WHS and Injury Management Advisors).
  • Strategic Partnership: Build trusted relationships with internal stakeholders to influence safety outcomes and support Council's strategic vision.
  • Framework Implementation: Deliver and maintain established safety, wellbeing, and injury management frameworks in line with legislative requirements
  • Advisory & Compliance: Provide expert advice on risk management, hazard identification, incident investigations, and compliance with SafeWork SA and PSSI standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilise data and insights to drive evidence-based decisions, support audit activities, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (or demonstrated equivalent senior experience).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a small WHS/injury management team.
  • Proven track record in a senior advisory capacity, with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation, incident investigation, and Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI).
  • Solid understanding of procurement and contractor management principles as they relate to safety.
  • A valid South Australian Class C Driver's Licence (and flexibility for occasional out-of-hours work).
