You will lead the WHS function across multiple work fronts, provide strategic direction, governance and support to project leadership, contractors and stakeholders.

Health & Safety Manager | Major Regional Construction Project

Spinifex Recruiting is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a major long-term construction and infrastructure project based in regional New South Wales.

This senior leadership role is responsible for leading the health, safety and wellbeing function across a large project portfolio, ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement and supporting the safe delivery of works.

The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, governance and operational support while partnering closely with project leadership teams, contractors and stakeholders.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the health, safety and wellbeing function across multiple project work fronts.
• Driving a positive and proactive safety culture.
• Providing expert WHS advice to operational and project leaders.
• Managing risk management processes, audits, inspections and assurance activities.
• Leading significant incident investigations and corrective action programs.
• Monitoring contractor compliance and safety performance.
• Supporting workforce capability through coaching, mentoring and training initiatives.
• Analysing WHS performance and reporting trends to senior leadership.
• Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, standards and management systems.
• Building strong working relationships across project, contractor and stakeholder groups.

About You

To be successful in this position you will possess:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in WHS leadership roles.
• Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, transport, rail, mining or similar project environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing WHS teams.
• Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and ISO 45001 principles.
• Experience leading complex incident investigations.
• Strong auditing, assurance and contractor management capability.
• Proven ability to influence and support senior operational leaders.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Lead ICAM or equivalent investigation qualification.
• Internal Auditor qualification.
• RTW Coordinator certification.
• Current driver's licence.

Location
