Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to provide hands-on HSE support on our Central-West Orana project team. You will be a visible on-site presence, embedding safe working practices and supporting the wider crew when it matters most.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will coordinate toolbox talks, conduct on-site safety checks, participate in WHS audits, and contribute to incident investigations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience on large-scale construction projects.
• Minimum: Cert IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Safety Lead Auditor qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and reinforce on-site safety requirements.
• Monitor day-to-day activities for safety compliance.
• Assist in incident investigations and reporting.
• Conduct toolbox talks and pre-start briefings.
• Participate in WHS audits and safety reviews.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by Energy Co to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.

Key Responsibilities

We're looking for a dedicated Safety Coordinator to bring hands-on HSE support to our Central-West Orana team. You'll be a visible presence on site, helping embed safe ways of working and supporting the wider team when it matters most. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Communicating HSE requirements on site.

• Assisting in monitoring day to day site activities to ensure safety compliance.

• Reporting any key issues to the site Safety Manager.

• Assisting incident investigations and report to appropriate personnel.

• Assisting in site consultation, such as toolbox talks and daily pre-start briefings

• Participating in WHS audits.

• Leading by example by promoting a positive work health and safety culture.

Required Skills and Competencies

You're an HSE professional who's comfortable working across a large, fast-moving construction site. To be successful, you'll bring:

• 2+ years' experience on large-scale construction projects, ideally including renewable energy projects and high-risk workplaces.

• Cert IV in Work Health and Safety, as a minimum.

• Safety Lead Auditor qualification (desirable).

This Safety Coordinator role is bus-in, bus-out, with camp-style accommodation provided on a 14 days on/7 days off roster, based out of the Central West Orana Region.
