West Gippsland Healthcare Group in Victoria is offering part-time RUSON/RUSOM positions within the Learning and Development Unit. The roles support patient care under supervision, with 8–36 hours per week across 7 days, and are ideal for second and third year nursing or midwifery students.

Successful applicants will gain practical clinical experience across acute, subacute, maternity and aged care settings, with comprehensive orientation, flexible arrangements and parking on site.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for motivated undergraduate nursing and midwifery students to join the Learning and Development Unit at West Gippsland Healthcare Group as a Registered Undergraduate Student of Nursing (RUSON) or Registered Undergraduate Student of Midwifery (RUSOM). These positions provide students with valuable employment experience while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care within a supportive and professional healthcare environment.

Working under the supervision and delegation of Registered Nurses or Registered Midwives, successful applicants will provide delegated aspects of patient care appropriate to their level of educational preparation, competence and scope of practice.

This program offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a range of clinical settings while developing your professional skills and preparing for a future career in healthcare.

These are part time positions of between 8 to 36 hours per week. Shifts will be worked across 7 days. Exact hours will be negotiated with the successful applicants.

Our preferred candidate will have:

• Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, or Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery double degree.
• Current AHPRA registration as a student nurse and/or student midwife.
• Successful completion of at least 12 months of undergraduate study at commencement.
• Demonstrated satisfactory academic progress.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
• Responsible and mature work attitude.

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

• Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital environment.

The new hospital is set to feature 233-beds and 33 emergency department treatment spaces as well as aged care and an expanded maternity facility.
