Job summary

The University of Melbourne in Wangaratta seeks a Senior rural surgical educator to lead and coordinate high quality teaching for Rural Clinical School students. You will organize clinical placements, mentor students and collaborate with Northeast Health Wangaratta teaching teams.

You will contribute to rural health research and departmental projects, aligning with your surgical expertise while advancing regional medical education and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Medical qualification recognised in Australia.
• Fellowship of an Australian College or equivalent.
• Substantial experience in clinical teaching and curriculum delivery within surgical settings.
• Ability to build productive relationships with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to navigate regional hospital systems and university processes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging surgical teaching and small group tutorials for Rural Clinical School students.
• Coordinate student exposure to surgical clinics, ward rounds and inpatient experiences at Northeast Health Wangaratta.
• Oversee student orientation, supervision and assessment, including mid and end-year examinations.
• Contribute to Rural Clinical School committees, educator meetings and projects.
• Supervise student research projects and support grant applications and publications related to rural surgical practice.
