Job summary

NSW Health’s Young Health Service is seeking a VMO GP Hospitalist to provide comprehensive emergency, inpatient, oncology, and outpatient care at Young Hospital. You will lead daily ward rounds, manage admissions and discharges, and supervise GP registrars and junior medical staff.

This senior rural role offers on‑call duties, scope for obstetric and anaesthetic procedures, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a vibrant regional

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent with Specialist GP registration or extensive senior experience in regional emergency medicine.
• Proven ability to manage acute and chronic conditions and perform urgent procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, education, and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily ward rounds and manage admissions and discharges.
• Provide care across emergency, inpatient, oncology, and outpatient settings.
• Supervise GP registrars, junior medical officers, and students.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in on‑call roster and clinical leadership across the facility.
