Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in NSW is seeking a Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthesia to join a dynamic regional team. You will provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist anaesthetic services across MLHD, supporting outcomes for surgical and procedural patients.

You will supervise clinicians, contribute to education, and participate in on-call duties within a collaborative, teaching-focused environment that values professional development and work-life balance.

Competenze

• Holds Specialist registration in Anaesthesia with Medical Board of Australia or overseas equivalent.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication and leadership.
• Experience in rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergencies.

About The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and qualified Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthesia to join the dynamic team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

In this role, you will provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist anaesthetic services that support optimal outcomes for surgical and procedural patients across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). You will play a key role in supporting and supervising clinicians across multiple disciplines to promote high-quality education and safe clinical practice.

Selection Criteria

• Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Anaesthesia practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
• Availability to participate in an on‑call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
