Job description

Room Leader
About this role

We're looking for a confident, caring and organised Room Leader to join our team at Only About Children Coogee Carr St campus! This is a role for someone who loves guiding a room, building strong relationships and creating the kind of calm, engaging environment where children and educators can thrive.

About our Coogee Carr St campus

There's a warm, community feel to working at Coogee Carr St , with the beach close by and the everyday energy of Coogee woven into the campus experience. Located on Carr Street, just a short walk or drive from Coogee Beach and close to transport links, the campus feels connected, convenient and full of local life.

Inside, Coogee Carr St has a generous, playful and nurturing feel. Children enjoy seven age-based indoor learning spaces and two dedicated outdoor play areas, with features like a bike track, fairy garden, slide and large sandpits supporting exploration and self-led play. Families often speak about the friendly, attentive team, strong communication and children feeling safe, supported and excited to be part of the campus.

About the role

  • Guide educators in intentional teaching, documentation, reflective practice and learning analysis.
  • Maintain child safe supervision, ratios, behaviour guidance and incident management across the room.
  • Build strong family partnerships and act as the key contact for room-level communication.
  • Mentor, coach and support educators, including onboarding, feedback and capability building.
  • Contribute to QIP, audits, meetings, Responsible Person shifts and campus-wide quality outcomes.
What you’ll bring
  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or higher.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a room or team in an ECEC setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of the EYLF, NQF, child safety and inclusive practice.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
  • Strong people leadership, mentoring and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage room priorities, family communication and quality expectations.
  • Current Working with Children Check and relevant state-based child protection clearance.
What we offer
  • Above award pay and recognition, including worker retention payment, Thank You and Excellence Awards, loyalty milestones and our Refer a Friend Program
  • Up to 50% childcare discount for eligible team members, plus paid parental leave and salary sacrifice options.
  • Leadership and professional development, including access to Grow Curriculum training, Nurture Inspire Program and expert-led Soundbite sessions.
  • Career pathways into Assistant Director, Educational Leader and Campus Director opportunities, supported by leadership coaching.
  • Education assistance and qualification support, including financial contributions and paid study leave where eligible.
  • Wellbeing support, including two Wellbeing Days, additional leave purchase options and 24/7 TELUS Health EAP access.
