Job summary

Indigenous Business Growth in Sydney is seeking a Safety Advisor to provide hands-on H&S advice across live TfNSW road environments, developing and maintaining the H&S Management System and coordinating occasional night shift support.

You will conduct inspections, investigations, training and reporting, engaging with frontline staff and regulators, contributing to risk controls and continuous improvement in road asset maintenance.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or Diploma OH&S with relevant industry experience.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Incident investigation qualification (ICAM or equivalent) is highly regarded.
• Auditor training (internal or Lead Auditor) is highly regarded.
• 3–5 years’ experience in safety, HSE or operational risk roles.
• Experience in road asset maintenance or live operational environments.
• Proven engagement with frontline staff, supervisors, managers and regulators.
• Experience conducting inspections, audits and investigations.
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
• Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on H&S advice, coaching and support to operational teams.
• Develop, implement and improve H&S policies, standards and plans.
• Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Track corrective actions and share lessons learned.
• Carry out workplace inspections, audits and plant inspections.
• Coordinate plant onboarding with contractors and report progress.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and contract requirements.
• Identify and control workplace hazards and risks.
• Support return-to-work and injury management as required.
• Collect and analyze safety performance data and trends.
• Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and training to staff and contractors.
• Support safety management systems and reporting platforms.
• Deliver rostered night shift safety support monthly.
