Job summary

MLC School Sydney is seeking an experienced Risk and Compliance Officer to join our professional team on a temporary, 0.8 FTE basis to cover maternity leave. Based at Burwood, you will support governance, regulatory compliance and risk management across the School while advising the Principal, Executive Team and School Council.

Reporting to the CFO, you will maintain governance records and compliance frameworks to a high standard and develop practical training for staff on risk and compliance

• Prepare agendas, minutes and action registers for committees.
• Maintain governance records, including policies.
• Support regulatory reporting and annual governance documents.
• Develop and deliver training on risk and compliance topics.

Temporary, Part-Time | 0.8 FTE | Maternity Leave CoverDuration: 20 November 2026 – January 2028

MLC School is seeking an experienced Risk and Compliance Officer to join our professional and collaborative team on a temporary, part-time basis.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this important whole-school role supports strong governance, regulatory compliance and effective risk management across the School. The successful candidate will provide trusted advice to the Principal, Executive Team and School Council, while ensuring that governance records and compliance frameworks are maintained to a high standard.

This position is offered as a temporary 0.8 FTE maternity leave cover contract and is based at MLC School in Burwood.

About the role

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and continuously improving the School’s governance, risk and compliance frameworks
• Monitoring regulatory requirements and emerging risk and compliance trends
• Managing the School’s risk register and supporting risk assessments across the School
• Providing practical governance, risk and compliance advice to senior stakeholders
• Preparing agendas, minutes and action registers for WHS Committee and other Committee meetings
• Maintaining accurate governance, risk and compliance records, including policies
• Supporting regulatory reporting and the preparation of annual reports, correspondence and other governance documents
• Developing and delivering training on risk and compliance matters.

About you

You will be a highly organised and experienced governance, risk or compliance professional who can confidently work with senior stakeholders and manage sensitive information with discretion.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

• Comprehensive knowledge of governance, risk and compliance practices
• Knowledge of relevant corporate, regulatory and statutory requirements
• Strong analytical, planning and professional judgement skills
• Excellent written communication, minute-taking and document preparation skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• The confidence to provide practical advice and build trusted relationships at all levels
• A high degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience, ideally supported by at least five years’ experience in a comparable role.
