Job summary

Sodexo Australia is seeking a Retail Vending Manager to own and optimize our national unattended retail network. You will drive sales, margins, and product availability across diverse sites, collaborating with operations, IT, and suppliers.

You will analyse performance data to identify opportunities, manage supplier relationships, and implement pricing and merchandising strategies. Travel to sites nationally is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–6 years' experience in Vending Operations, Retail Management, FMCG or related commercial fields.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to drive sales, profitability and customer experience using data insights.
• Experience engaging with suppliers, service providers and internal teams to deliver results.

• Support adoption of new technologies including telemetry, cashless payments and smart retail.
• Identify trends and opportunities to strengthen Sodexo's unattended retail offerings.

Job description

As a Retail Vending Manager, you will take ownership of Sodexo's national vending and unattended retail network, driving sales growth, operational performance, customer experience and commercial outcomes across remote and corporate sites. You will oversee the end-to-end management of vending operations, including product range, pricing, merchandising, supplier performance, machine optimisation, telemetry reporting and network expansion.

Working closely with the Retail Systems Manager, site operations, suppliers, technology partners and internal stakeholders, you will use data-driven insights to improve machine performance, maximise revenue opportunities and ensure a seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the performance and continuous improvement of Sodexo's vending and unattended retail network nationally.

Drive sales, gross margin, product availability and customer satisfaction across all vending channels.

Analyse vending performance data and identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, product mix and operational efficiency.

Manage vending suppliers, service partners and technology providers to ensure service levels, machine uptime and customer expectations are consistently met.

Develop and implement vending ranges, pricing strategies, planograms, promotions and merchandising standards aligned to customer demand.

Monitor key performance indicators including sales, margin, uptime, availability, shrinkage, service response times and machine profitability

Collaborate with Category, Supply Chain, Finance, IT and Operations teams to deliver commercially successful vending solutions

Support the implementation of new technologies including telemetry, cashless payment systems, micro-markets and smart retail solutions.

Identify emerging trends, product innovations and new retail opportunities that strengthen Sodexo's unattended retail offering.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Experience in Vending Operations, Retail Management, Category Management, FMCG, Convenience Retail or Multi-Site Operations.

Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive sales, profitability and customer experience through data-driven decision making.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence suppliers, service providers and internal teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, using insights and performance data to identify opportunities and deliver results.

Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of execution in a fast-paced environment.

A proactive and action-oriented mindset, with high levels of accountability, resilience and ownership.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 4-6 years' experience in Vending Operations, Retail Management, FMCG, Convenience Retail, Hospitality, Supply Chain or a similar commercial environment.

Demonstrated success improving sales performance, profitability, operational efficiency or supplier outcomes.

Experience analysing sales, margin, stock, customer and operational data to identify opportunities and drive results.

Strong understanding of merchandising, planograms, inventory management, replenishment and customer experience principles.

Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, IT and external suppliers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, retail reporting platforms, telemetry systems, POS platforms and inventory management tools.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Retail, Supply Chain or a related discipline are desirable.

Ability and willingness to travel to sites nationally as required.
