Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a casual Retail Customer Service Officer at Ulverstone Post Office to assist customers with sales, service, and parcel lodgements. You’ll work in a welcoming team, participate in training, and have opportunities for career growth within Australia Post.

You will handle cash and other payment types, promote products, and contribute to a positive customer experience across shifts in a community-focused role.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
  • Be fit to lift up to 16kgs of mail and parcels regularly and stand for your shift.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality.

About the opportunity

As our Retail Customer Service Officer, you’ll play an important part in helping Australians service their own businesses, keeping millions of people connected and building community resilience. Every year around one million customers walk into one of our Australia Post Offices. It’s our retail teams who make sure that every experience they have is a great one. And while they do, they’re supported by a welcoming team, take part in ongoing training, and are guided on career development opportunities.

You’ll be

  • Performing customer sales and service transactions with customers.
  • Managing high value transactions accurately (handling and processing cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS).
  • Conducting and processing a number of identity services transactions, including Australian Passport Interviews.
  • Promoting our products and services through up-selling and cross-selling, merchandising and other promotional activities.
  • Assisting customers with mail and parcels lodgements and associate costs.
  • Building rewarding relationships with customers by understanding their needs.
  • Assisting with administrative duties such as stocktaking and record maintenance.

  • Pay Raterole commences on $36.41/ hour for approx. 3 months, increasing to $38.92 hour + 12% Superannuation. (Junior rates apply to those under 21 during training).
  • Training Comprehensive, paid training program of 6 weeks Full time Monday – Friday, 8:45 AM – 5:06 PMwith ongoing support
  • HoursAfter training, shifts may be scheduled in advanced, or you may be called in at short notice. You will need to be fully available, Monday - Friday, between 8.45 AM – 5.06 PM, shifts can be 3 hours - 7.21 hours in length
  • LocationIdeal for applicants living in Burnie, Ulverstone or surrounding areas, this relief role provides shifts across these locations, with occasional coverage required in Wynyard and Devonport. Please consider travel requirements before applying.

You’ll also need to

  • Have experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
