Job description
About the Role

Are you finishing school or early in your career and looking for a pathway into the rail or logistics industry? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Resource / Crew Scheduler to join our Intermodal team.

In this fast-paced role, you’ll learn how to help coordinate the daily allocation of crew and equipment/assets (500+ train crew, 1,400 wagons, 130 locomotives) to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations across Australia’s rail network. You’ll be part of a fast-paced environment that keeps freight moving safely and efficiently — and we’ll train you in everything you need to know.

This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in rail operations, rostering, planning, logistics, or surveillance/monitoring work who wants to start building a long‑term career.

What You’ll Do

With full training and support, you will learn to:

  • Allocate crew and rolling stock to meet daily operational plans.
  • Maintain and update rosters, including adjustments when things change.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure the right people and assets are in the right place at the right time.
  • Spot potential improvements to make our processes simpler and more efficient.
  • Help ensure compliance with safety, operational, and industrial standards.
What You’ll Bring

We don’t expect you to have industry experience — we’re looking for someone with the right attitude and interest in the field.

This role suits someone who has:

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, and digital).
  • A willingness to learn complex systems and rostering tools.
  • An ability to stay organised in a busy, shift‑based environment.
  • A collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.
  • Interest in transport, logistics, rail, planning, or monitoring/surveillance‑style tasks.
  • Any exposure to labour planning, rostering systems, or heavy industry is a bonus — but not required.

Full training provided – bring a positive attitude, we’ll teach the rest.
