IFYS is seeking a Casual Residential Youth Worker for the Toowoomba region. You will provide a safe, therapeutic environment for young people, support challenging behaviours with calm consistency, and plan activities aligned with Case Plans.

The role includes admin duties, transport to appointments, and daily life-skill coaching. Applicants should hold a QLD Working with Children Blue Card, a current driver’s license, and be available for varied shifts.

Qualifications

• QLD Working with Children Blue Card or currently applied for one.
• Current Queensland driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field (IFYS can advise/more information).
• Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current line manager).
• Availability for a variety of shifts over a fortnightly roster (day/evening/sleepover/weekend).
• History screenings including a Licensed Care Suitability check (LCS2) and a National Crime Check.

• Timely completion of administrative duties including petty cash, case notes and incident reports.
• Transport clients to school, work, appointments and commitments.

About The Opportunity

The IFYS Child Protection Residential Care Programs support children and young people needing a safe, dependable, and nurturing living environment. Reporting to the Case Manager, Residential Youth Workers deliver the day-to-day care to young people in the Residential Care house.

A day in the role of a Residential Youth Worker may include supporting young people to manage challenging behaviours, planning or attending activities and following daily routines to promote life-skills development. Residential Youth Workers complete case notes and admin tasks daily as well as helping to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Candidates with transferrable skills from working with vulnerable people who display challenging behaviours are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Requirements

• A QLD Working with Children Blue Card or have applied for one
• Current Queensland driver's license with no restrictions
• Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current line manager)
• Already hold or are enrolled in a Certificate IV or higher in a relevant field prior to commencing work (IFYS can provide advice/more information on this)
• Availability for a variety of different shifts over a fortnightly roster (day/evening/sleepover/weekend)
