Job summary

Support Worker Co is a leading agency providing Youth Workers to Youth Service Organisations across Australia. We have casual, residential Youth Worker roles available in Ryde, Roseville, Turramurra, Artarmon, Pymble, Waitara, North Shore & St Ives.

Youth Workers will deliver high quality care in a 24-hour residential setting for children and young people who cannot live with their families, with shifts including day, afternoon, and overnight sleepovers.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or related qualification (or working towards).
• Experience supporting high risk youth in residential care.
• Australian driver’s license (we cannot accept international licenses).
• First Aid Certificate with current CPR.
• Working with Children Check (paid employee status).
• National police check (current within 6 months).
• Have a reliable car with registration certificate.
• Reliable smart phone with data.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality care and support within a 24-hour residential setting to children and young people in need.
• Work a combination of shifts including day, afternoon, and sleepovers overnight.
• Respond to the young person’s emotional and functional needs and support their personal skills.
• Provide trauma informed and therapeutic care to youths with complex needs from past trauma and abuse.
• Create a safe, home-like environment while helping youths achieve goals.
• Assist with administrative tasks and household duties.

Job description

Support Worker Co is a leading Support Worker Agency that provides best fit Youth Workers to Youth Service Organisations across Australia.

We have casual, residential Youth Worker roles available in Ryde, Roseville, Turramurra, Artarmon, Pymble, Waitara, North Shore & St Ives.

Youth Workers will be required to:

• Deliver high quality care and support within a 24-hour residential setting to children and young people who are unable to live with their families, kinship carers or foster carers.
• Be able to work a combination of shifts which may include: day shifts – from 0600, afternoon & sleepovers shifts – from 1400 – 0930 next day, actives night shifts – from 2200/2300/midnight.
• Respond to the young person’s emotional and functional needs and the development of their personal skills.
• Work within a team to provide trauma informed & therapeutic care to young people who present complex needs due to past trauma and abuse.
• Provide a safe and home environment while supporting young people to achieve their goals.
• Assist with administrative requirements and household duties.

What you need:

• A minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a recognised tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or a related qualification (or working towards)
• Experience supporting high risk youth in a residential care setting.
• Australian driver's license (We cannot accept international licenses)
• First Aid Certificate with current CPR
• Working with Children Check (paid employee status)
• National police check (current within 6 months)
• Have a reliable car with registration certificate
• Reliable smart phone with data
• Ability to work a combination of morning, afternoon and over night shifts (active and/or sleepover shifts)
• Previous experience working with children and young people with complex needs including sexualised behaviors.
