Job description

Support Young People with Purpose

As a Residential Care Youth Worker, you'll be part of a dedicated, trauma-informed team providing safe, nurturing, and therapeutic care to young people in out-of-home care. Working in a home-based environment, you'll support young people to develop life skills, build confidence, establish positive routines, and work towards their personal goals and independence.

We're seeking compassionate and resilient professionals with experience in both residential care and disability support. In this role, you will support young people living with disability, including providing personal care, promoting independence, and supporting their emotional, social, and developmental wellbeing.

No two days are the same. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the home, including preparing meals, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, managing household supplies, and supporting young people with daily living tasks. You'll also transport young people to appointments, school, and activities; administer and document medication; implement therapeutic behaviour support strategies; and work collaboratively with case managers, therapists, educators, families, and other key stakeholders.

This role also requires strong attention to detail, including maintaining accurate case notes, completing incident reports, and ensuring compliance with DFFH standards and organisational requirements.

While incredibly rewarding, this work can be challenging. The young people we support have often experienced significant trauma and may present with complex behaviours and support needs. Success in this role requires emotional resilience, patience, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to remain calm, regulated, and therapeutic during difficult situations.
