Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a diligent professional to support clinicians in trial eligibility assessments, patient education and data handling within a research setting.

The role covers protocol development, adverse event reporting, data processing, specimen handling and ensuring ICH GCP compliance while maintaining high standards of patient care. Ward shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

Assist clinicians in assessing patients/volunteers for eligibility in research and monitoring.
Provide ongoing advice and information to participants to aid informed consent.
Help report and record adverse events per Trust and Departmental protocols.
Assist in protocol development and ethical approval procedures.
Aid in data analysis and preparation of reports for presentation and publication.
Coordinate patient visits per study protocols; arrange tests, data collection, coding and data entry.
Perform procedures per protocol, including venipuncture, cannulation and IV drug administration; record vital signs.
Report regularly to the Senior Nurse of the R&D department for guidance.
Ensure all clinical research activity complies with ICH GCP and protocols.
Maintain high standard of patient care in line with Trust and R&D policies.
Ensure data is collected and managed accurately.
Handle collection, processing and shipping of biological specimens per protocol.
Participate in education of patients about their disease and trial aspects.
Prioritize patient safety in all trial-related procedures.
Ensure documentation and record-keeping comply with EU Directive and ICH GCP guidelines.
Work within the N.M.C Code Of Conduct and professional conduct scope.
Maintain computer literacy for managing computerized data.
Stay updated with medical literature and developments in clinical research methods.
Attend research network meetings, courses, and study days to stay current.
Contribute to staff and student education, including clinical supervision.
Educate and develop student nurses as part of the role.
May work clinical shifts in a ward environment when required.

Job description

To assist the clinicians in the assessment of patients/volunteers for eligibility forresearch and monitoring of their condition throughout their participation.
To provide ongoing advice and information to patients/volunteers with regard totheir participation in clinical research in order to facilitate effective informedconsent.
To assist the clinicians to report and record any adverse events as dictated byTrust and Departmental protocols.
To assist the clinicians with protocol development and ethical approval.
To assist in the analysis of data and preparation of reports for presentation andpublication.
To co-ordinate and carry out patient visits in accordance with study protocols,including co-ordinating special tests in other departments, collection of data, coding,data entry and patient support
To carry out treatment procedures and treatment interventions according to predeterminedprotocols, including venepuncture, venous cannulation, administering ofintra-venous drugs and vital sign recording
To report on a regular basis to the Senior Nurse of the R&D department forprofessional support and guidance.
To ensure that all clinical research activity is ICH GCP compliant and conducted inaccordance with the agreed protocols
To maintain a high standard of patient care in line with Trust and R&D policies andprotocols and in accordance with the Research Governance Framework
To ensure that all data is collected and managed accurately
To carry out the collection, processing and shipping of biological specimensaccording to protocol requirements and follow up appropriately on alert values
To be involved in the education of patients and their various aspects of their disease
To ensure that patient safety is paramount in all procedures that take place for trialpurposes
To ensure clinical and research documentation and record keeping is completedaccurately and efficiently in accordance with the EU Directive, ICH GCPGuidelines.
To work within the N.M.C Code Of Conduct and scope of professional conduct
To have sufficient computer skills for the handling and management ofcomputerised data
To keep up to date with relevant medical literature, developments in clinicalresearch methodology, monitoring and local regulatory and ethical requirements
To attend research network meetings, attend courses, conferences and study days in order to remain up to date with all relevant aspects of clinical research
To participate in the education and development of staff/students, e.g. clinicalsupervision and ensure that all personnel are adequately informed about, andcomply with all details of the trials.
To participate in the education and development of student nurses.
The post holder will be expected to work clinical shifts in a ward environment ifnecessary
