This isn't just another in‑house research role; it's an opportunity to champion the work you do as a researcher among colleagues who are keen to work with you and executives who see the value of what you bring.

Since 1974, we've provided our Members with financial and business solutions to make running a business easier. Our flagship Trade Account offers instant credit with over 1600 Preferred Suppliers, simplified monthly expenses, and a generous rewards program.

We have a strong foundation in the automotive and machinery aftermarkets. Our vibrant community includes over 31,000 Members across Australia and New Zealand, from national franchises to your local family workshop. Last year, Capricorn facilitated nearly $4bn in sales with our Preferred Suppliers.

At Capricorn, we're about more than just products and services. We work hard to ensure that our Members, Suppliers and People feel like they're part of something bigger - a Community which is connected and supported to make a difference, while having some fun along the way!

A little about the role

The Research and Insights Specialist role sits within the Voice of Community and Research team, part of the Brand, Marketing and Experience department. It is an integral part of a dynamic, collaborative and fun team dedicated to delivering quality research and insights for the business, and ensuring that the research leads to action.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Manage and deliver key strategic research projects for the organisation, whether run internally or using external partners.
  • Manage and enhance Capricorn's Voice of Community research program.
  • Analyse the data and outputs of the research program to develop actionable insights and opportunities for internal stakeholders and business functions.
  • Work closely with the Experience Strategy and Service Design team to improve the end experience of our Members, Suppliers employees.
What you'll bring

We're looking for a market research or insights professional with 5+ years' experience in consumer insights, market research or Voice of Customer roles, whether in‑house, agency‑side, or a combination of both.

You have:

  • Technical research expertise, from survey craft, to designing and executing qualitative research, to analysis skills. (QPMR accreditation would be highly regarded, but not essential).
  • Experience using Qualtrics and Q.
  • Experience conducting primary research with customer/ member databases.
  • Proven ability to synthesise findings from multiple qualitative and quantitative research projects and/or data sources to create accurate and pragmatic recommendations for the organisation.

You:

  • Are great at finding the meaning behind the research and enjoy leading people to insights that will enable them to make better decisions.
  • Love to work collaboratively with people from different functions and organisations, and with diverse skillsets.
  • Are an excellent communicator, whether leading meetings and workshops, presenting to senior management, or in building day‑to‑day working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Can plan and prioritise work to meet commitments aligned with organisational goals.
  • Are adept at understanding internal and external stakeholder requirements and needs and can proactively shape and influence their expectations.
Qualifications
  • A university degree in business, marketing, psychology, anthropology or other field of study that is relevant to understanding people.
