Job summary

One of Australia's leading Federal Government departments are looking to engage an experiencedResearch and Evaluation Specialist to lead and deliver high-quality research, evaluation, analytical and evidence-generation activities that support the Agency's strategic priorities and digital health initiatives. The role will be based fromCanberra, Sydney or Brisbaneand will offer hybrid working arrangements.The successfulResearch and Evaluation Specialist will be offered a6 month contract with 2 x 6 month extension options.

The successfulResearch and Evaluation Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Lead and deliver research, evaluation and analysis projects that support Agency priorities and digital health initiatives.

Design and implement qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method research and evaluation activities, including evaluation frameworks, logic models and performance measures.

Collect, analyse and interpret data from multiple sources to generate evidence-based insights and recommendations.

Prepare high-quality reports, briefs and presentations, translating complex findings into clear advice for decision-makers.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, providing specialist research and evaluation expertise while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The successfulResearch and Evaluation Officerwill have experience in the following:

Demonstrated experience delivering research and evaluation projects using qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method approaches.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into evidence-based findings and recommendations.

Experience developing and applying evaluation frameworks, performance measures and research methodologies to support monitoring and continuous improvement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports, briefs and presentations for diverse audiences.

Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes under limited direction.

Experience in health, digital health, program evaluation, public policy, behavioural science or a related field will be advantageous.
