Job summary

Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Newcastle is seeking a passionate reporter to join the Muswellbrook newsroom. You will create engaging journalism across radio, digital and social platforms while collaborating with a high-performing editorial team to shape the local news agenda.

You will produce and present news bulletins, develop story ideas, and source original stories reflecting the diverse Hunter community, while upholding ABC values and policies.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering breaking and original content across multiple platforms.
• Sound editorial, research and analysis skills, with sound judgment under pressure.
• Deep understanding of issues affecting the local Hunter audience.

Responsibilities

• Produce and present news bulletins, interviews, Q&As and cross-platform packages, including breaking news.
• Create compelling local content that resonates with both regional and national audiences.
• Participate in planning and commissioning to develop strong story ideas and boost engagement.
• Source, identify and develop original stories that reflect the diversity of the community.
• Contribute to local emergency broadcasting and liaise with key stakeholders as required.
