Gazette in Darwin is launching a new masthead and seeks reporters who can cover local news, lifestyle and culture with clarity and impact. You will publish across newsletters, social, video and our website, focusing on practical information and underreported issues in climate, housing, infrastructure and healthcare.
You will spend time in the community, build trusted relationships and shape the masthead voice while experimenting with formats nobody has tried yet.
Gazette is a media company building a network of local newsrooms across Australia. We make high-quality local news freely available in the formats and on the channels where people already spend their time, so communities can connect with, contribute to and navigate the big issues where they live.
We are fully independent and funded by a mix of advertising, philanthropy and reader donations. Our newsrooms are small, digitally native and fast-moving. Reporters here have real room to try things and to shape the voice of their masthead.
You will drive the launch of a new masthead in Darwin and Palmerston. There are thousands of stories in the area, from local characters to the big questions shaping the region’s future.
You will publish free local news, lifestyle and culture across newsletters, social, video and our website, with a focus on practical, useful information and clear reporting on underreported issues: climate and energy, cost of living, housing, infrastructure, education, healthcare and essential services.
You will report to Brad Esposito, Editorial Director, and join a team of 10 reporters across nine mastheads. You can see our other mastheads at gazettenews.au.
