NACCHO invites applications for a Remote Area Nurse/Midwife to deliver culturally safe maternity and women’s health services to Yolŋu women across remote communities in East Arnhem Land. Based in Nhulunbuy or Darwin, the role travels regularly to outreach sites, providing antenatal, postnatal and newborn care with Aboriginal health workers, while leading clinical governance and education.

The position is full-time (6 months), within Primary Health Care, and supports development of models of care

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions.
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife with no restrictions.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a dual Registered Nurse/Midwife, ideally in remote/Aboriginal health settings.
• Experience delivering primary health care programs and outreach services in remote settings.

Responsabilités

• Deliver remote maternity and women’s health services (antenatal, postnatal, newborn).
• Partner with Aboriginal health workers for culturally appropriate care.
• Conduct regular outreach visits to remote communities.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentoring and staff education.
• Support clinical governance and quality improvement.
• Collaborate with community partners on health promotion initiatives.
• Contribute to Birthing on Country models of care.
• Assist with service planning, redesign and leave coverage across maternity.
