Job summary

Autism Queensland Limited invites applicants for enriching relief teaching positions at our Cairns School for primary classes (P-6). Classes are small, with 6-8 students, supported by an interdisciplinary team including teacher aides, therapists, wellbeing and behaviour staff.

You will assist in planning, teaching and assessment in an alternative, flexible learning model for autistic students, using a holistic, strengths-based approach to help each child thrive.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Education, Special Education, or Inclusive Education.
• Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
• Experience with school aged autistic children.
• Provide First Aid including CPR qualification (or willing to obtain).
• Demonstrated understanding of inclusive education practices.

Job description

• Enriching relief teaching positions are available in primary school aged classes (P-6) at Autism Queensland Cairns School
• Small classes of 6-8 students
• Wide degree of support from an interdisciplinary team of teacher aides' therapists, wellbeing, and behaviour support practitioners (dependent on needs of the students).

As aTeacher, you'll support the planning, teaching and assessment in an alternative, flexible model of learning for autistic students, embracing a holistic, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming approach as we strive to empower each student to thrive in an environment that fosters their individual growth.

The role would suit a flexible, curious, and caring Teacher who is seeking to enrich their career in education while supporting a diverse group of students in their education journey with Autism Queensland.

Requirements
