Job summary

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) invites applicants for the role of Assistant Chief Officer (Reliever). This leadership position delivers strategic direction and operational continuity across VICSES during periods of leave or vacancy, coordinating regional portfolios and emergency operations.

The successful candidate will oversee command and control responsibilities, work with state and regional teams, and travel as required within Victoria.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across VICSES during periods of leave or vacancy.
• Lead regional portfolios, emergency operations, strategic priorities and projects across key operational areas.
• Support Operations Directorate with operational improvement and capability-building initiatives, working with senior leaders, municipalities and regional and state teams to strengthen operational practices and community resilience.
• Exercise delegated authority for readiness and response decisions and undertake senior command and control responsibilities during local, regional and state-wide emergencies.
