Job summary

Internationalinsuranceprofessionals in Sydney is seeking a Reinsurance Accountant for a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will support reinsurance accounting, administration and reporting across the Asia Pacific region, ensuring accurate, well-controlled financial outcomes.

You will collaborate with the Reinsurance and Finance teams, prepare statutory reports, manage month-end processes, and assist with process improvements in a global insurance environment.

Qualifications

• Ideally commercial insurance experience, preferably in reinsurance accounting or financial administration.
• Advanced Excel capability and familiarity with SAP.
• A tertiary or professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
• Strong customer focus and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support accurate and timely reinsurance accounting, administration, reporting and controls across the Asia Pacific region.
• Prepare accurate reinsurance statutory reports and schedules, meeting requirements and deadlines.
• Support reporting of reinsurance assets for regulatory purposes.
• Coordinate financials for treaty technical administration with central reinsurance teams.
• Supervise the reinsurance credit control process including premium payments and debtor collections.
• Complete month-end reinsurance accounting activities and reconciliations.
• Prepare local reporting requirements including withholding tax returns and transfer pricing components.
• Maintain transaction controls and supporting reports in line with APAC policies.
• Support audit queries, process reviews, automation and ad hoc projects.

Key responsibilities?

• As the Reinsurance Accountant, you will support accurate and timely reinsurance accounting, administration, reporting and controls across the Asia Pacific region. You will work closely with the Reinsurance and broader Finance teams to deliver reliable reporting, maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve how work is completed. Duties will include but not be limited to:
• Prepare accurate reinsurance statutory reports and schedules, meeting relevant requirements and reporting deadlines.
• Support the reporting of reinsurance assets for regulatory reporting purpose
• Work with central reinsurance teams to coordinate the financials for treaty technical administration, including premium adjustments, reinstatement premiums and profit commission calculations.
• Supervise the reinsurance credit control process, supporting timely premium payments, recovery notifications and debtor collections.
• Complete month-end reinsurance accounting activities, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reporting and Home Office schedules.
• Prepare local reporting requirements, including withholding tax returns, ABS reinsurance surveys and reinsurance components of transfer pricing reporting.
• Maintain transaction controls, records, reconciliations and supporting reports in line with APAC policies and procedures.
• Support audit queries, process reviews, automation and improvement initiatives, as well as ad hoc projects.
• Build collaborative relationships across Asia Pacific and Global Finance, provide reinsurance knowledge and support, and contribute to technical guidance and training where required.

About you

• Ideally commercial insurance experience, preferably in reinsurance accounting or financial administration, together with advanced Microsoft Excel capability and familiarity with systems such as SAP. A tertiary or professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
• Strong customer focus, with the ability to support internal and external stakeholders.
