RMSANZ is seeking a Rehabilitation Consultant to join the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – Flinders Medical Centre team. You will lead in rehabilitation medicine across stroke, orthopaedic/amputee, and regional outreach, supporting safe seven-day admissions and guiding multidisciplinary care.

The role includes supervising registrars, contributing to clinical research, and driving quality improvement while ensuring patient-centred care that enhances quality of life.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
• High standard of clinical practice in Rehabilitation Medicine.
• Ability to work independently with professional judgement.

Responsabilités

• Support seven-day inpatient admissions and review inpatients within 12–24 hours.
• Attend family meetings and liaise with families on the ward.
• Deliver telehealth clinics and travel to country hospitals for specialist rehab.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical research.
• Supervise and teach registrars and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Champion compassionate, patient-centred care to optimise outcomes.

• Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $296,708 – $383,234 MD02 (Subject to Private Practice Arrangements)
• 30 HPW Immediate start until end June 2027 – 26.25 HPW5 Feb 2027 – 31 July 2027

Join our dynamic Rehabilitation Medicine team and make a meaningful impact across stroke, orthopaedic/amputee and VITA rehabilitation wards, while extending your expertise through outreach to regional South Australian hospitals. Your day-to-day will include supporting safe seven-day admissions, reviewing inpatients within 12–24 hours, attending family meetings, connecting with families on the ward, delivering telehealth clinics and travelling to country hospitals to provide specialist rehabilitation services. You’ll also lead quality improvement initiatives, contribute to clinical research and trials, supervise and teach registrars, and collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to strengthen patient outcomes and service delivery, all while championing compassionate, respectful and patient-centred care that optimises quality of life.

About you:

• Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
• Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Rehabilitation Medicine
• Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of professional judgement and medical competence in a multidisciplinary setting
• Respect for the rights and responsibilities of patients and their families
• Experience in quality improvement activities
