Job summary

The Law Society of New South Wales is seeking a full-time, fixed-term Registration Officer to join the Registry team for 8 months in Sydney, NSW. You will assess and process license applications and variations for solicitors, renewals, and related payments, while delivering high-quality customer service and handling data entry and enquiries.

Ideal candidates bring admin experience in a legal/regulatory setting, strong MS Office skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage competing

Qualifications

  • Previous administration experience, preferably in a legal/regulatory environment.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and proficiency with e-mail, internet and database applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to understand and apply policies and regulations.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, prioritise work and meet strict deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing and processing applications for licenses and applications for the variation of licenses for practising solicitors in New South Wales.
  • Processing applications for license renewals.
  • Assisting and liaising with law firms to facilitate payment and allocation of licenses.
  • Assisting a team of lawyers fulfil statutory obligations relating to the licensing of solicitors in New South Wales.
  • Data entry and data maintenance for solicitors and law firms.
  • Attending to incoming phone and email enquiries from staff, solicitors and the public relating to solicitors practising in New South Wales.
  • General office duties and electronic and paper filing.
  • Processing financial payments and refunds as required.

Job Description
  • Located in the heart of Sydney's CBD (Martin Place)

We are currently looking for a full time fixed term Registration Officer to join our Registry team for a period of 8 months.

About the role

This is a high-calibre customer service and administration role that assists with processing and assessing a high volume of applications for licenses and the variation of those licenses for practising solicitors in New South Wales.

What you'll be doing
  • Assessing and processing applications for licenses and applications for the variation of licenses for practising solicitors in New South Wales.
  • Processing applications for license renewals.

  • A high degree of initiative, and flexibility, with the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality in the performance of duties.
  • Displays a commitment to high quality customer service, values the supply of accurate and timely information and able to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
