Responsibilities

• Work across all shifts
• Establish a relationship between the patient and yourself to achieve the best outcomes
• Recognise a change in the patient’s condition and take necessary action, documenting variation in the care plan
• Balance competing priorities and respond to urgent clinical needs
• Escalate safety, quality of care and risk concerns to the in-charge nurse
• Ensure adherence to policies and maintain clinical standards
• Ensure the in-charge nurse is informed of practices affecting patient care
