This permanent full‑time role offers development within a 30‑bed unit covering multiple surgical specialties, with a dedicated Nurse Educator and the opportunity to advance post‑operative care skills. You will be an AHPRA‑registered nurse with acute care experience, capable of working unsupervised in high‑demand periods and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse authorised to practise by AHPRA.
• Recent demonstrated experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to work unsupervised and proficiently during periods of high demand.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and appropriate patient care in a surgical ward.
• Develop surgical nursing skills with support from a Nurse Educator.
• Provide 1:1 acute post-operative care when required and managed by experienced staff.
• Contribute to a patient‑focused environment across Ward 4B.

As a Registered Nurse with Surgical Services, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective, and appropriate patient care within a patient-focused environment. This role offers the opportunity to further develop surgical nursing skills with the support of a dedicated Nurse Educator.

Ward 4B is a 30-bed unit providing care to adult patients across a broad range of surgical specialties. These include, but are not limited to, general surgery, colorectal, stomal therapy, gastroenterology, plastics, management of skin lesions (including melanoma), oncology-related procedures such as mastectomy and breast reconstruction (DIEP), and cardiothoracic surgery.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to build their clinical capability in surgical nursing, including the development of advanced skills in managing patients requiring 1:1 acute post-operative care, supported by an experienced clinical education team.

About you

• Registered Nurse authorised to practice by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Recent demonstrated experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting as a Registered Nurse
• Ability to work unsupervised and proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand
