South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) seeks a Registered Nurse, Scrub & Scout, for Randwick Campus Operating Suite at Prince of Wales Hospital. You will provide perioperative care, support multidisciplinary teams, and maintain clinical documentation to ensure safe patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
• Strong computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, Work Health and Safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
• Recent postgraduate clinical scrub/scout experience an Acute Operating Theatre setting.

The Role

The Registered Nurse (Scrub & Scout) is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred perioperative nursing care in accordance with professional standards, NSW Health policies, and organisational procedures. The role assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, maintains accurate clinical documentation, and applies sound clinical judgement to support safe patient outcomes.

The Registered Nurse also promotes quality, safety, and risk management practices, provides clinical supervision and support within the perioperative environment, and actively participates in ongoing professional development to maintain contemporary knowledge and skills.

Where You'll be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care.
