Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a clinically focused Registered Nurse to join the Critical Care unit at Manning Base Hospital. You will deliver face-to-face, patient-centred care to those with complex and changing clinical needs, working closely with ICU doctors and a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes rapid assessment, evidence-based practice, and ongoing professional development, with access to an educator and opportunities for further critical care training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to patients with complex and changing clinical needs.
  • Monitoring and managing patients experiencing haemodynamic instability.
  • Cardiac monitoring and recognising and responding to changes in cardiac status.
  • Manage non-invasive and invasive ventilation management.
  • Comprehensive patient assessment and ongoing clinical monitoring.
  • Responding effectively to clinical deterioration and emergency situations.
  • Managing complex patients with rapidly changing clinical needs.
  • Working collaboratively with ICU medical staff and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to clinical deterioration and emergency situations.
  • Use critical thinking, clinical assessment and evidence-based practice to guide nursing care.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and effective patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for patients and support patients, families and carers to understand their care and make informed decisions.

  • Demonstrated Critical Care or ICU nursing experience

ICU training, critical care and Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT), or a strong willingness to develop this skill experience is highly desirable.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
