Job summary

The Sutherland Hospital in Sydney’s Caringbah area is seeking a Registered Nurse for Aged Care roles on a permanent or temporary basis, full- or part-time. The Nurse Bank backfills maternity leave and long service leave, with opportunities to move to permanent positions as vacancies arise.

The ideal candidate will hold current NMBA registration, demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages when communicating with others.
• Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
• Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
• Demonstrated recent extensive post registration experience in an Aged Care setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Service.
• Backfill temporary vacancies for example maternity leave relief and long service leave via the Nurse Bank model.
• Be adaptable to a seven day rotating roster and participate in unit rotations as required.

Your new role:

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. We are offering permanent roles with the opportunity to work in Aged Care Units Killara Acute and Barkala. The Nurse Bank Registered Nurses are allocated to backfill temporary vacancies for example, maternity leave relief and long service leave. This model differs from a casual pool model. Opportunities will be provided to move from the nurse bank to permanent positions on other units at The Sutherland Hospital as vacancies arise. Opportunities include all specialties across the site.

Positions in the Nurse bank are either Full-time or Part‑time with a minimum of 2 days per week. To be eligible for a position, you must have current Australian work rights, have completed a Transition to Professional Practice Program and have the ability to participate in a seven day rotating roster.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Service, consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services CORE values, policies, procedures and standards.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. Please note we are not offering sponsorship for work rights for this position.

The ideal candidate will have:
