Job summary

The Department of Health Tasmania is seeking a Registered Nurse to support high-quality, patient-centred care in a fast-paced Intensive Care setting. You will work under senior nurses and a multidisciplinary team, monitoring patients, administering treatments, and assisting with procedures while maintaining precise documentation.

This permanent full-time role offers progression opportunities within a dynamic unit, with salary range from $80,524 to $109,175 per year and generous superannuation.

Qualifications

• Current knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practices in patient care in line with NMBA standards.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Knowledge of quality improvement and evidence-based practice in clinical settings.

The Team

The Intensive Care Unit within the LGH is a 11 bed dynamic medical/surgical unit that prides itself on delivering excellence in health care and improving outcomes for our workforce and the Tasmanian community.

• The Intensive Care Unit is an 11 bed dynamic medical/surgical unit
• The team prides itself in having a strong, supportive culture and strives for high standards of care
• The team is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our clients, utilising a range of treatment options such as mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, advanced haemodynamic monitoring, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

The Role

The Registered Nurse supports the delivery of high-quality, patient‑centred care to critically ill patients. Working under the guidance of senior nurses and the multidisciplinary team, the role involves monitoring patients, administering treatments, assisting with clinical procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and responding to changes in patient condition, while developing critical care skills in a fast‑paced environment.

• Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills and the ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

Salary $80.524 to $109,175 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.

Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
