St John of God Ballarat Hospital in Ballarat VIC is seeking a casual Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac Cath Lab team. The role focuses on pre- and post-procedure nursing care, patient monitoring and collaborative support with cardiologists and the Cath Lab team.

The ideal candidate holds current RN registration (AHPRA) and has strong clinical assessment skills, with interest in cardiac nursing and procedural services.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse is required.
• Cardiac Cath Lab, cardiac, coronary care or perioperative experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care before, during and after cardiac procedures.
• Complete comprehensive pre- and post-procedure assessments and develop care plans.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional procedures and ensure clinical requirements are met.
• Provide nursing support during procedures in collaboration with cardiologists and the Cath Lab team.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our dynamic Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab) at St John of God Ballarat Hospital on a casual basis.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients before, during and following cardiac procedures.

Complete comprehensive pre- and post-procedure clinical assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.

Prepare patients for cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures, ensuring all relevant clinical and procedural requirements are met.

Provide nursing support during procedures, working collaboratively with cardiologists and the wider Cath Lab team.

Monitor patients closely, including cardiac rhythm, vital signs and clinical condition, and respond appropriately to changes or complications.

Administer medications safely and effectively, including medications associated with cardiac procedures and patient recovery.

Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications, wound and vascular access site assessment and ongoing clinical observation.

Educate and support patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, medications and ongoing care requirements.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and provide clear, timely clinical handover.

Work collaboratively with cardiologists, cardiac technicians, anaesthetic staff, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, clinical safety and procedural practice.

Contribute to a positive team culture and exceptional patient experience.

To succeed in this role, you will have well-developed clinical assessment, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide safe, responsive and compassionate care within a fast-paced cardiac environment. You will demonstrate sound clinical judgement, strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills, together with a commitment to teamwork and clinical excellence.

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, along with recent clinical experience in an acute hospital environment. Previous experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab, cardiac, coronary care or perioperative setting will be highly regarded; however, we are also interested in Registered Nurses with strong acute clinical skills who are looking to develop their career within cardiac nursing and procedural services.
