Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Registered Midwife to join the Postnatal Antenatal Ward at Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, part of the Melbourne health network. You will provide woman- and family-centred care across antenatal and postnatal periods, with a rotating roster and opportunities to manage both low- and high-risk pregnancies, while collaborating with medical and nursing teams.

The role offers permanent/full-time or part-time arrangements, with shift patterns AM/PM/ND and 12-hour days,

Qualifications

• Registration with AHPRA or in process.
• Minimum one year experience as a Registered Midwife.
• Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for antenatal and postnatal patients.
• Manage a dynamic workload with low and high-risk pregnancies and postnatal needs.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing and allied health staff to ensure escalation of care and coordinated services.

About the opportunity

As a Registered Midwife on the Postnatal Antenatal Ward you will provide safe, evidence-based, woman and family-centred care to women and their newborn babies throughout the antenatal and postnatal period.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, while promoting positive health outcomes and supporting informed decision-making.
• Manage a dynamic workload involving women with both low and high-risk pregnancies and postnatal needs.
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health and support staff to ensure timely escalation of care, effective communication, and seamless coordination of services.

To thrive in this role, you will have:

• Registration as a Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or in the process of obtaining AHPRA Registration.
• Minimum one years experience as a Registered Midwife.
• Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
• A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
• The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
