With CORE Values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment,
working with us will ensure your professional life is provided every opportunity to succeed and develop in your chosen career role.

About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.

Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

Are you a passionate and dedicated Registered Midwife committed to providing personalised, woman-centred maternity care?

Nepean Hospital is seeking a motivated Registered Midwife to join our Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) team. This is an exciting opportunity to support women and their families throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period, providing continuity, education and individualised care in a supportive community-focused model. You will help women make informed decisions about their maternity care while promoting positive maternal and newborn health outcomes.

The Midwife "including New Graduate Midwife" working in the MAPS model coordinates and delivers high quality Midwifery care across the hospital and the home antenatal and postnatally. This care is delivered to maternity patients within the Antenatal Outpatients Department (OPD) and the community postnatal setting within the patients’ home. The MAPS model of care is a collaborative service with individualised continuity of care through pregnancy and the early postnatal period by a known midwife, empowering the woman to make health decisions that are unique to her and her circumstances. The model will promote the philosophy that pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period is a normal life event, by providing evidence based best practice to promote optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes through collaborative woman centred care.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trusting partnerships with women and families, the ability to recognise clinical deterioration and elevate concerns appropriately, strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate care across different healthcare settings with a commitment to woman-centred, culturally safe, respectful and evidence-based practice. If you are a compassionate Registered Midwife who is passionate about continuity, education and supporting women and families throughout their maternity journey, we encourage you to apply.

Join the MAPS team at Nepean Hospital and help provide personalised, compassionate and high-quality care to women and families throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.
