Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Registered Midwife for Cooma Maternity Unit. The role provides women-centered maternity care within a collaborative team and offers support for professional development. Remuneration ranges from AUD 81,748 to AUD 114,772 per year, with sign-on and RHWIS incentives for eligible candidates.

Permanent Fulltime, Part Time or Temporary Fulltime until 24 May 2027, with up to 38 hours per week. Applications close 13 September 2026.

Qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife with evidence of recent clinical experience and skills in relation to the position, and a strong commitment to maintaining professional competence.

Midwifery Sign-on Bonus

A Lump Sum sign-on bonus of up to $20,000* for 2nd year midwives and above moving from work in an NSW MM1 and MM2 location, or midwives moving from interstate. Commencement is required by the 30th September 2026.

Cooma Maternity Unit experiences approximately 140-150 births a year, with 2 birthing rooms and 3 postnatal rooms. There is a part time Clinical Midwifery Educator to support the team with ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
