Northern Sydney Local Health District is seeking an experienced Midwife for the Birth Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. The role involves caring for high-risk pregnancies with opportunities for professional development and leadership as required.

The midwife will collaborate with obstetric, medical, and allied staff according to the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines and will provide comprehensive antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, including lactation support.

Qualifications

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a high level of written and verbal skills with both patients and colleagues.
  • Recent experience and competency to practise as a midwife in antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal care, lactation and infant feeding.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Consult and liaise with obstetric, medical and other appropriate staff as per ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and referral when deviations from the norm are identified.
  • Provide midwifery care across antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal periods, including lactation and infant feeding.
  • Supervise and support the work of others as required and ensure safe, woman-centred care.

The Birth Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) is seeking an experienced Midwife to join their dynamic team. We deal with complex high-risk pregnancies with fantastic opportunities for professional development.
The Maternity Service at Royal North Shore Hospital is committed to professional development of staff, innovation and midwifery/nursing excellence at all levels. To provide quality woman centred, effective, evidenced based midwifery care in accordance with the ANMC National Competency Standards for the Midwife (2006) and to supervise the work of others as required.

The midwife will consult and liaise with obstetric, medical and other appropriate staff as per the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and referral (PD2010_022) guidelines when deviations from the norm are identified.
