Job summary

Campaspe Shire Council seeks an accomplished Operations Lead to steer Works and Parks & Gardens across the shire. You will manage about 100 staff, contractors and a $20 million budget, delivering maintenance programs aligned with budgets and priorities.

This role focuses on consolidating systems, strengthening Parks & Gardens leadership, mentoring frontline supervisors and shaping direction for the next 6 to 24 months. A tertiary qualification and strong safety leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience leading supervisors, field crews and contractors in civil works or parks services.
• Strong financial and budget management experience.
• Knowledge of safety, risk and legislative compliance.
• Experience in local government or emergency response is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear leadership to a multidisciplinary operational workforce.
• Plan and deliver annual and multi-year Works and Parks & Gardens programs.
• Improve operational systems, reporting and continuous improvement.
• Lead safety, risk, quality and regulatory compliance across employees and contractors.
• Manage budgets, contracts, plant and workforce resources.
• Monitor service performance and respond to changing conditions and community priorities.
• Build effective relationships with internal leaders, contractors, the community and external partners.
