Job summary

Tradewind Australia Pty in Broken Hill, NSW, seeks an experienced Principal Solicitor to lead the Community Legal Centre's legal practice, supporting people across Far West NSW who experience disadvantage.

The role combines hands-on practice with people leadership, supervision and service development, with funding through to 30 June 2030, and a flexible approach to work. Travel throughout the region is required, including outreach to remote communities and duty lawyer services.

Qualifications

• Australian legal qualification and admission as an Australian lawyer.
• Significant experience providing legal advice, casework, advocacy and/or representation.
• Experience supervising and mentoring legal practitioners.
• Strong understanding of legal ethics, professional responsibility, risk management and quality practice.
• Commitment to social justice, access to justice and service development.

Responsibilities

• Providing legal advice, casework, advocacy and representation.
• Leading and overseeing high-quality, ethical legal practice.
• Supervising, mentoring and developing solicitors.
• Supporting workload management, professional development and staff wellbeing.
• Overseeing legal file review, quality assurance, risk management and compliance.
