NSW Public School Jobs - NSW DET Jobs. in Broken Hill invites applications for an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker. The role focuses on safeguarding children, collaborating with DCJ and partners to build safe, culturally connected outcomes for families and communities.

You will conduct home visits, develop safety plans, assess risks, and support court-related processes while working within Aboriginal communities and expectations of cultural supervision and strong ethics.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree qualification preferred.
• Applicants without a qualification require at least two years’ experience with vulnerable children, young people and families.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with Aboriginal community, supported by verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Paid working with children clearance number.
• Documented verification of Aboriginality.

Responsibilities

• Work sensitively with parents, family members, children or young people.
• Partner with other agencies and engage in complex problem solving.
• Walk alongside families to set goals addressing safety and wellbeing, including home visits.
• Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments.
• Manage cases with high needs and high-risk clients and families.
• Be involved in court processes and attend court.
