A national advocacy organization in Australia is seeking a full-time remote advocate to support clients in the National Redress Program. The role involves navigating the redress process, advocating for client needs, and providing information on rights. Ideal candidates will have strong advocacy experience, a commitment to social justice, and excellent communication skills. This is a fixed-term contract with a view to extend depending on funding.

The National Redress Scheme provides support to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.

The Redress Advocate works directly with clients via face‑to‑face and telephone advocacy, assisting them in navigating the redress process, providing them with information on their rights and options, including accessing counselling and legal advice. You will assist them with their application to the program and advocate to ensure their needs are met effectively.
This role engages with a number of stakeholders including the National Redress Scheme and legal services. It also involves public speaking and presentations to the public and other services on the Redress Program.
This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere in Australia. Applicants must have access to a suitable and private home workspace that supports confidentiality and productivity.
This role also requires travel to rural and remote communities throughout Australia.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract, with a view to extend reliant on funding.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in advocacy roles, with a strong commitment to social justice, and have experience working with people with disability who have lived experience of trauma and abuse.
You have a demonstrated understanding of disability rights.
You have experience supporting clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
You have experience navigating complex processes and applications.
You have a commitment to trauma‑informed and culturally competent practice.
You have exceptional communication skills with genuine care and empathy.
You have experience using a client management system and managing client files and information.
Award Classification : Level 5 Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Award
PWDA pays above‑award rates as per our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
Option for Salary Packaging to increase take home pay.
Additional leave provisions in addition to the Award.
