Job summary

Silicon Quantum Computing (SQC) is hiring software engineers for the Control & Error Correction team. You will help build the realtime engine inside the quantum computer, handling the QIS controller, pulse translation, and fault-tolerant operations on a heterogeneous FPGA-based platform.

You will work closely with physicists and platform engineers at our Sydney facility, focusing on worst-case latency budgets set by physics and delivering reliable, low-latency software close to hardware.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building systems software in production.
• Proficiency in Rust or C++ and Python for tooling.
• Experience with hard realtime where deadlines are critical.
• Concurrency and synchronization, keeping the critical path simple.
• Experience near hardware: memory-mapped IO, drivers, DMA, interrupts.
• Familiarity with scheduling/queueing algorithms and worst-case reasoning.
• CS fundamentals and ability to implement algorithms from literature.
• Experience measuring performance on target hardware and CI for hardware-facing code.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the realtime scheduler for FPGA mesh allocation and sequencing.
• Maintain and extend the NISQ pulse compiler translating pulse-level ops to hardware instructions.
• Implement logical measurement and Pauli frame tracking across chiplets.
• Develop the decoder path, neural network decoders and related services in the cluster.
• Support magic-state distillation and resource-state orchestration for logical gates.
• Design for latency budgets and jitter with allocation-free or low-latency paths.
• Interface across fabric, embedded processor, host and cluster, including DMA and card-to-card protocols.
• Verify timing-dependent behavior with simulations and reference models.
