Job summary

Synergy is seeking an Energy Trader to join the Perth Trading Team. You will execute real-time electricity and gas trades, optimise the company’s portfolio, and manage commercial and market risks.

You’ll build analytical models, monitor market conditions, and support strategic trading decisions in a 24/7 roster. You will collaborate across teams to enhance dispatch efficiency, fuel use, and portfolio performance, while applying quantitative skills and tools like Power BI, Python, and SQL.

Qualifications

• Hold a tertiary qualification in a quantitative field.
• Strong numerical and analytical capability to interpret complex data.
• Good judgment and ability to make timely decisions under pressure.
• Clear communication and collaboration across teams.
• Experience with analytical/modelling tools (Power BI, Python, R, SQL, VBA) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Execute real-time electricity and gas trading activities to optimise Synergy's portfolio while managing risk.
• Monitor market conditions, portfolio performance and constraints to identify opportunities.
• Prepare and submit market offers and trading activities per market rules and strategies.
• Develop analytical models and decision-support tools for dispatch and portfolio optimisation.
• Collaborate with operations and stakeholders to implement strategies and improve processes.
