Job summary

The Queensland Government is seeking a Rail Operations Advisor (Modelling) to join the Strategic Rail team within the Rail Division in Brisbane. You will apply rail operations expertise to model, schedule, and analyse data to support planning for projects including preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

You'll work across an integrated portfolio, collaborating with stakeholders, and developing innovative modelling approaches that balance customer needs with network

Qualifications

• Relevant experience or qualifications in rail operations, transport planning, or infrastructure modelling.
• Skills in data analysis, microsimulation, and visualisation to support decision making.
• Strong communication skills, capable of preparing technical reports for diverse audiences.
• A track record of building strong stakeholder relationships.
• Ideas about delivering innovative solutions that align with government priorities and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Undertake rail infrastructure and operational modelling and assurance across an integrated portfolio of projects.
• Assessment and collation of the technical outputs of major rail planning projects and events, such as the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to understand the impacts and benefits for our customers.
• Analysis of operational data to support development of conceptual operational and infrastructure states
• Identify, evaluate, and develop innovative rail operations modelling approaches that inform planning for new rail infrastructure, service improvements, and timetable changes across the network.
