Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Sydney is seeking a proactive IS/IT/Cyber Systems Engineer to design, deploy and support project IT and cyber infrastructure for SMW and future rail programmes. You will translate system inputs into scalable IT solutions, covering data centre, storage and end-user platforms across multiple locations.

The role requires strong virtualization, OT cyber knowledge, and end-to-end deployment experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT systems or infrastructure engineering within complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of virtualisation platforms, clustering, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of Cyber technologies for the OT environment.
• Experience in server, storage, and end-user system deployment.
• Ability to support system configuration, testing, and commissioning.
• Understanding of resilient and scalable IT architecture principles.
• Experience producing technical documentation and supporting procurement.
• Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or similar.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end implementation of IT infrastructure for projects.
• Translate product line and system engineering inputs into IT system designs.
• Define equipment specifications for procurement (servers, storage, end-user devices).
• Design virtualisation environments and clusters (Proxmox) across locations.
• Configure and deploy compute, storage, and end-user platforms.
• Design, develop, and implement cyber solutions for the project.
• Support procurement activities with technical evaluation of equipment.
• Support integration, testing, and commissioning of IT/Cyber systems.
• Provide technical support during deployment and early operations.
• Define and configure workstations, monitors, and related infrastructure.
• Maintain design consistency and configuration control across systems.
